ABOUT
illawarra coke company pty limited

Illawarra Coke Company Pty Ltd (ICC) is a major supplier of quality metallurgical and foundry coke to Australian and overseas base metals producers for lead and zinc smelting and iron production for steelmaking.

ICC has been privately owned since 1996. It is the only independent coke producer in Australia. Its operations are accredited to Australian and International Standard AS/NZS ISO 9001:2008.

Metallurgical and foundry coke has been produced for 98 years on the two sites currently owned and operated by ICC in Wollongong, the major city of the Illawarra region of New South Wales, Australia. Both its Coalcliff and Corrimal Cokeworks are located adjacent to major transport systems which also link with the Port Kembla Coal Terminal, only a few kilometres away, for handling shipments to export customers.

ICC's cokeworks produce premium grade coke using non-recovery technology. This technology was acknowledged by the USEPA in developing the Clean Air Act 1990 Amendments for establishing coke oven emission standards for all new coke plants. Non-recovery technology is where all volatile matter is combusted rather than recovered. Both Corrimal and Coalcliff Cokeworks each operate under a licence from the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water NSW.

The Illawarra region, immediately south of Sydney, is a traditional coal mining area and supplies the high grade Bulli seam hard coking coal, critical to the superior quality of coke produced by ICC.
