home environment environmental improvements ENVIRONMENTAL The Illawarra Coke Company (ICC) has undertaken numerous individual projects for environmental improvement since taking over ownership in 1996 at a total cost of many millions of dollars. They have all aimed to improve the environment around the plants. These improvements have addressed a wide range of issues, the main one being nuisance odour reduction. Others include noise abatement, dust control and coke transport. In undertaking its environmental management program ICC employs a systems-based approach. This is not new to ICC as both Corrimal and Coalcliff Cokeworks are accredited to the Australian and International Standard AS/NZS ISO 9001:2008. Cokemaking in Australia is a highly regulated industry and ICC operates its sites under Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water NSW (DECC) Licences, plus, it must operate within the confines of a number of Acts and statutory bodies. In line with all major companies, ICC undertakes an environmental monitoring program as part of its licence agreement. Top home the company products operations environment community site map |
